I graduated with distinction from Cambridge University and trained in international centres of excellence before appointment as Consultant Gastroenterologist at Barts Health, Whipps Cross Hospital.
I am happy to discuss any gastro-intestinal condition and have particular expertise in the investigation and management of inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis & Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, diarrhoea, weight loss, intestinal polyps & tumours, and dyspepsia (indigestion). I also see patients with liver conditions such as fatty liver, gallstones, jaundice and abnormal liver function tests.
I am a specialist in endoscopy. Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy forms a large part of my practice. I provide safe and thorough endoscopy examinations with minimal discomfort. My experience and skills allow me to perform at an advanced level, using new techniques to treat problems with the endoscope that may previously have required an operation.
My practice is based on a background of excellent scientific and clinical research. My PhD research at Cancer Research UK and University College London is published in world-class journals such as Nature and Nature Medicine and I continue with patient-centred research as Lead Clinician for Intestinal Research and Clinical Audit.
Whilst at Cambridge, I rowed in (and won) the Boat Race and have since raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity by rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and competing in desert ultramarathon running. I live in the local area and am married with two young children.
